"A place where people and the community resonate together" - A new form of "place" spreading in Hida Takayama
In recent years, the Hida area of Gifu Prefecture has seen a succession of new spaces being created where people and the local community can interact.
Recently announced complex co-creation center by architect Sou Fujimoto "soranotani" news is one of them.
The concept of "making use of local resources to create a place where life, learning, and industry resonate with each other" is an attempt to rediscover the "closeness between people and nature" that is inherent in the land of Hida.
It's not just tourists, but locals, travelers, students, and craftsmen who breathe the same air and share time together - this "power of place" is drawing renewed attention.
"Garden Inn Series" Initiatives in Hida Takayama
Resonating with this concept of "place," we cherish the same idea at the "Niwa no Yado Series" that we operate in Hida Takayama City.
Among the "Kusa no Niwa," "Kibun no Niwa," and "Oak no Niwa," there is also a renovated traditional house that is over 100 years old that can be rented out as an entire lodging.
In addition to the charm of the building itself, this is a place where you can experience the local nature, culture, and the "time" that flows there.
For example, after a walk around town, when you sit on the veranda of the inn, the smell of the mountains and the sounds of the trees will quietly envelop you.
At that moment, you will feel as if you have transcended the boundaries of a lodging and become a part of the land.
This is an experience that can only be enjoyed in Hida Takayama, and is in line with the "place design" advocated by Fujimoto.
A time when everyday life and travel blend together
We see the stay as an extension of your stay, rather than an experience.
Rather than stopping off along the way, make the time to "live like a local" the center of your trip.
This allows travelers to see the same scenery and feel the same atmosphere as local people.
"Kibun's Garden"We have left the traditional beams and earthen floor intact while subtly adding modern comforts.

"Grass Garden" is a traditional Japanese house over 100 years old that has been renovated into a private lodge full of tradition and charm. You can relax and enjoy the view of the courtyard from the cypress bath.

"Oak Garden"The morning light pours in through the window, filling the room, and the chirping of birds signals the start of the day.

Each lodging fosters a relationship where "people create the space, and the space embraces the people."
Luxurious tranquility
The town of Hida Takayama shows different faces with each season.
Away from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas, you will find a tranquil atmosphere that makes you feel as if you are part of local life.

Finish work a little early and relax with your family.
Or spend an evening chatting with friends and forgetting about time. Or spend a special time with your partner.
These casual moments may become the most memorable memories of your trip.
What Hida Takayama, the place where we grow
The birth of a new venue like "soranotani"
It is also a major sign of what the future holds for the Hida region.
Amidst this wave of change, the "Garden Inn Series" also quietly and surely lives on as a part of this land.
When travelers and local people meet, memories and time overlap, and something new is born.
We would like to be that kind of "circulating inn."
- A place where your journey intersects with someone else's life -
A few days spent in Hida Takayama is not just a trip,
We hope this will be a place where you can regain your own time. Please come and spend some time at our "Garden Inn Series" and enjoy the breeze of Hida.
